Land Transport NZ has established a scholarship in memory of Land Transport NZ Principal Engineer Andrew Justice, who died in 2005. This scholarship will be awarded once every two years, with the first scholarship awarded in 2007.
The scholarship will sponsor a New Zealand engineering, mathematics or science graduate to study towards an MSc in Automotive Engineering. Preference will be given to those candidates who wish to study at Cranfield University in the United Kingdom.
The committee might be prepared to consider an application for Masters study in a related area provided the study would yield similar benefits to the New Zealand transport industry.
There is a current lack of New Zealanders who hold qualifications in automotive engineering and it is vital that highly qualified people be available to perform regulatory and other roles in New Zealand.
This scholarship will preserve the memory of Andrew and at the same time seek to address the need for automotive engineers in New Zealand and at Land Transport NZ.
Applications for the scholarship close on 1 March 2007.
For more information about the scholarship, including an application form, visit the New Zealand Vice Chancellors’ Committee website at www.nzvcc.ac.nz.
