Appointment of new Chief Executive for Land Transport New Zealand

The Board of Land Transport New Zealand has appointed Wayne Donnelly as the new agency's inaugural Chief Executive and Director of Land Transport.

Land Transport New Zealand was formed on 1 December by merging the Land Transport Safety Authority and Transfund New Zealand.

The Chair of Land Transport New Zealand, Dr Jan Wright, said that the new Chief Executive has a deep knowledge of the transport sector, together with a broad range of established relationships in central and local government.

Wayne Donnelly completed a first class honours degree in Civil Engineering at the University of Canterbury.

After a career as a civil engineer in the private sector in New Zealand and overseas, he moved to the public sector and worked in a number of senior roles at the Auckland City Council.

In 2000, he became Chief Executive of the Rodney District Council, and in 2003, was appointed Chief Executive of Transfund New Zealand.
