Funding approved for design of Tauranga Eastern Motorway

The Land Transport NZ Board has approved $8.8 million in design funding for the first phase of the Tauranga Eastern Motorway project.

The funding enables Transit NZ and Environment Bay of Plenty to proceed with preliminary design work and prepare resource consent applications for the project.

Land Transport NZ Midlands Partnership Manager Rosalie Orr said the proposed 23 kilometre motorway was aimed at improving transport efficiency and safety in the eastern Bay of Plenty and supporting managed growth in the region.
