This revision advises importers about the changed rules for importing immigrants’ vehicles of Classes MA, MB or MC; or ‘special interest vehicles’, that do not meet frontal impact or emissions standards .

5 November 2007 Revision 6

This revision to the infosheet advises you to be aware that new emissions standard requirements are expected to come into force on 1 January 2008. To import a vehicle into New Zealand, it must meet the requirements set out in Infosheet 2.08, to which this document is linked.
It includes additional information about compliance of modified class MA vehicles.

31 October 2006 Revision 5 The infosheet has been extended to include standards for heavy-vehicle brakes that will be introduced through the Heavy-vehicle Brakes Rule, which comes into force on 1 March 2007. Imported heavy vehicles of Classes MD3, MD4, ME, NB and NC that are first registered in New Zealand after 1 July 2008 will need to meet an approved brake standard. In addition vehicles of Classes NB or NC intended to be used to tow heavy trailers will in most cases need to be fitted with ABS, EBS or LSV. Vehicles of Class TC and TD first registered in New Zealand on or after 1 July 2008 will in most cases need to be fitted with ABS, EBS or LSV.
1 June 2006 Revision 4 Requirements relating to vehicles imported from Singapore and Hong Kong have been clarified.
15 September 2005 Revision 3 The statement of compliance has been updated in accordance with Land Transport Rule: Glazing, Windscreen Wipe and Wash, and Mirrors Amendment 2005 by removal of all requirements for windscreen wipe and wash systems to meet standards.
May 2005 Revision 2 The infosheet has been extended to cover both light and heavy vehicles — ie, vehicles of all classes except TA, TB, LA, LB.
22 December 2004 Revision 1.1 The words 'either their own form or' were removed from the instruction in Appendix 1.
29 March 2004 Revision 1 The new form Application for an exemption from vehicle standard rules supersedes the previous application for exemption from the frontal impact rule. There are more examples of acceptable documentation included in the appendices.
15 December 2003   Infosheet 1.67 has been restructured. The information about importing light vehicles from countries other than Japan, Australia, the USA or Europe that was previously in Infosheet 1.67e is now presented in the new Infosheet 2.14.
