About Safe2Go: help and advice on child restraints

Safe2Go, a joint initiative between Land Transport NZ and ACC, funds 19 Safe2Go trainers throughout New Zealand to train 'technicians' in the correct installation of child restraints.

Safe2Go – New Zealand’s national child restraint training programme Safe2Go is working to improve how parents and caregivers install and use child restraints.

Research in New Zealand has found that as many as three quarters of drivers will make at least one error when putting a car seat into the car or a child into the car seat. Up to half of these errors will increase the risk of injury for the child.

Safe2Go is a training focused programme from ACC and Land Transport NZ. Nineteen Safe2Go trainers run training workshops for Safe2Go technicians throughout New Zealand. At the workshops, Safe2Go technicians are taught how to correctly install and use child restraints. Technicians work in the community, providing advice to parents and caregivers on the appropriate restraint for their child and vehicle. Find your nearest technician at the Safe2go website.

Anyone who fits or checks child restraints on a regular basis can apply to attend Safe2Go training to be come a registered Safe2Go technician.
