Did you know?

Being a bus passenger is one of the safest ways for children to travel to school.

Encouraging school bus safety

Encouraging safe behaviour and practices on and around school buses can include:

  • running a bus safety quiz, for students or students and parents
  • giving safety awards to the bus drivers (drivers nominated by the students)
  • giving out Safety and the school bus pamphlets
  • putting school bus safety tips in school newsletters
  • holding a competition to design a slogan for school bus safety
  • providing regular reminders (e.g. at school assemblies) about safe school bus travel
  • running a practical school bus safety training session. Include waiting for the bus to arrive, safely getting on and off the bus, and waiting for the bus to move off again.
