• CAS: the Crash Analysis System. CAS is an integrated computer system that provides tools to collect, map, query and report on road crash and related data. Includes information for those interested in accessing CAS.
• Crash Reduction Study monitoring: description of how 'black spots' have been monitored and addressed. Contains the monitoring reports and supporting crash reduction documents in PDF format.
• Cycle network and route planning guide: aims to promote a consistent approach to planning the provision for cycling in New Zealand. (In our 'Walking and cycling' section.)
• Guidelines for marking multi-lane roundabouts: the purpose of these guidelines is to assist designers in providing the most appropriate pavement markings for existing and proposed multi-lane roundabouts in New Zealand.
• Managing road safety and efficiency under the Resource Management Act 1991: The way forward. Best practice guideline: best practice guideline designed to assist councils and developers in their roles under the Resource Management Act.
• New Zealand guide to the treatment of crash locations: a companion document to the Austroads Guide to traffic engineering practice. Part 4, 'Treatment of crash locations', December 2004.

• Road safety survey series: links to all the road safety survey (RSS) reports.
• RTS 16 - Guide to heavy vehicle management: information relating to the design and management of roads and off-road facilities to safely cater for heavy vehicles.
• RTS 18 - New Zealand on road tracking curves for heavy vehicles (August 2007): provides guidance to road controlling authorities and engineers in the geometric design of roads and intersections, and replaces a similar document New Zealand on road tracking curves which was published by the Land Transport Safety Authority in October 1995.
• Safer roads: how Land Transport New Zealand helps ensure New Zealand's roads are designed, constructed and managed safely and at reasonable cost.
• Safer Routes Programme (neighbourhood accessibility plans): aims to improve walking and cycling safety and access in at risk areas. Funding, guidelines and advice is available to councils interested in starting projects.
• Safety management systems project: Land Transport New Zealand helps road providers improve their expertise and holds them accountable for providing safe roads. Includes the SMS purpose, objectives, approach, guidelines, reports, etc.
• Speed limits: information for road controlling authorities on setting speed limits.
• Stop and goes of traffic signals (PDF 718 KB): this booklet describes how the safety and/or effectiveness of traffic signals could be improved.
• Traffic notes: information for road controlling authorities.
• Traffic control devices manual: guidance on industry good practice. Part 9 (Level crossings) and Part 13 (Parking control) are currently available. (under development)
• Traffic sign specifications: searchable listing of traffic signs in New Zealand. All signs can be previewed and downloaded from the site. (under development)
