Print version: Crash reduction monitoring system coding manual (PDF 1.19 MB, 72 pages)
The purpose of this manual is to provide guidance on completing the crash reduction monitoring system coding forms. The crash reduction monitoring system has been set up by Land Transport New Zealand (Land Transport NZ) to evaluate the effects of safety improvement works.
The crash reduction monitoring system consists of two types of forms, which are to be filled out for each location monitored. These are a crash location form (CL form) and a problem definition and recommendation form (PR form)1. Data from these forms is entered into the crash analysis system. The monitoring system produces an implementation report form that is used to record progress on implementing the safety improvements.
This is version 3.0 of the Crash Reduction Monitoring System Coding Manual and includes a major reduction in the amount of information recorded about each crash location. The decision to reduce the amount of information recorded has been made for a number of reasons.
Examples and definitions of information to be recorded are included in this manual so that there will be consistency throughout the country in the information obtained through the use of the forms.
This manual should be used in conjunction with the New Zealand Guide to the Treatment of Crash Locations.
