6  Control devices

6.1  Introduction

There are a number of different types of control devices that may be used at level crossings in accordance with these guidelines. The type selected will depend on the characteristics of the level crossing being controlled. (Refer to Section 3 - Risk assessment/ALCAM.) The standard approved control devices are described below.
