Walking to school
- Walking to school: the benefits: Walking to school has a lot of benefits for children, their caregivers and the environment. It also means less traffic congestion around the school gate.
- Walk to school initiatives: A range of initiatives and tools have been developed, aimed at encouraging children and their caregivers to walk to school.

- Why Land Transport New Zealand is involved: We want to increase the number of children walking to school because it’s better for the environment, better for everyone’s health and it reduces traffic congestion around the school gate.
- Road safety tips: Teaching children how to be safe on roads and footpaths is a skill for life. Children should be shown where it’s safe to walk and how to cross the road safely.
