Land Transport Rule: Vehicle Exhaust Emissions 2007 requires that motor vehicles must have been designed and constructed to meet an approved minimum emissions standard in order to enter the NZ fleet. The rule applies to motor vehicles of Classes MA, MB, MC, MD1, MD2, MD3, MD4, ME, NA, NB and NC - see Infosheet 1.10 and Infosheet 2.08 for details. Please note that there are two versions of Infosheet 2.08 in effect until 1 February 2008:
This rule continues requirements for vehicles to be inspected in-service at Warrant of Fitness or Certificate of Fitness inspection for the emission of smoke from their exhausts.
The rule will also require an emissions test for used vehicles entering the fleet.
